We all know Garden of the Gods is stunning and arguably THE best elopement spots in Colorado Springs— but what if you want something a little more private. Think less crowded and totally unique? Maybe you want something that’s not as popular and somewhere that provides more intimacy. As an experienced local elopement photographer who’s explored the of secret spots let’s jump into my top five (in no specific order)!
Before we go into the locations we need to talk about the most important piece when exploring our beautiful planet. Leave no trace isn’t just about packing up what you pack in it’s the 7 principles. ” Leave No Trace continually examines, evaluates, and reshapes the Principles and conducts research to ensure that they are up to date with the latest insights from biologists, land managers, and other leaders in outdoor education (lnt.org)”. Many of our lands have been polluted, damaged, and negatively effected wildlife. It’s important to make sure we are respecting wildlife and being considerate on a daily basis while we still have this beautiful planet.
The first location we will venture to is not too far from Garden of the Gods and is also referred to as “Garden of the Goddess”. It’s similar vibes to Garden of the Gods, but way fewer people. They have epic red rock backdrops, dog-friendly trails, and a stunning golden hour glow. This is a very easily accessible location for couples and guests. For City of Colorado Springs Parks weddings with more than 50 people, renting a pavilion or applying for a Special Event Permit is required.
This park has it all and honestly it holds a special place in my heart. It has everything to be a part of the best elopement spots in Colorado Springs. Think waterfalls, pine forests, mountain views for a dreamy, dramatic, and romantic elopement. This location is great for couples who love hiking or want a private spot tucked into nature. There are a variety of hike from easy to difficult. I have a few specific ceremony spots that I have a part of my locations list exclusive to clients. If you’re planning on a summer elopement and want shade and cooler temps this is a great option.
Palmer park is for the locals and definitely a hidden gem. Gorgeous panoramic city and mountain views. The unique rock formations and quiet sunsets are perfect to your Colorado Springs Elopement. There are so many trails here that offer peace and intimacy. This is a great year-round accessible location that is also dog-friendly. So bring your pup along for your elopement day! Of course bringing your fur baby along with you must mean it’s one of the best elopement spots in Colorado Springs.
For couples who want a truly unique and colorful landscape. A truly one-of-a-kind landscape — white, pink, and orange clay hoodoos with open skies. Great for sunset. They have easy trails but feels like another world. This place is extremely photogenic, especially for couples wanting bold visuals. The one negative is that ceremonies can not take place but portraits are welcomed here. A beautiful woodsy ceremony could take place at a nearby location and you could follow that with portraits at Painted Mines.
Colorado Springs elopement locations aren’t just beautiful landscapes. Maybe you want mountain views with backyard wedding vibes! That sounds lovely. Invite your closest people, control the vibe, timing, and guest count. Some Airbnb’s offer epic mountain backdrops or rustic cabin charm. You can elope, get ready, and celebrate all in one place.
Time of day matters for the most privacy consider weekday sunrise and golden hour is lovely for light. Always check for permits or restricted areas or book me as your full service elopement planner and photographer and I will do the work for you! Don’t forget to bring layers — weather shifts fast.
You don’t need to stick to the most obvious locations to have an epic elopement. When it comes to Colorado Springs elopement locations the lesser-known spots are just as beautiful — and more private.
