You’re here for elopement timeline tips for stress-free days in the mountains, but you’ll stick around because you like the way it feels. You wake up with the sun peeking through the cabin window, coffee in hand, and your wedding day doesn’t feel rushed — it feels sacred. A moment in time dedicated to pronouncing your endless love for your partner in life. Every moment feels intentional. Because every part of it is. A common misconception around elopements is that they don’t need planning. As a full service elopement planner and photographer I am the guide that helps craft intentionality that feels true to you on your elopement day. We craft a day that protects your peace, allows for spontaneity, and highlight your story.
Having a timeline handy allow you to have avoid stress around where you want to be and worries around running out of light. A good timeline helps you account for drive time, breaks, outfit changes, vendor schedules, etc. Elopement timelines make space for meaningful moments like writing your vows together, first look, celebration, and any adventure of your choice.
Whether you’re a early riser or more of a night owl, having a crafted timeline that feels good to you and your partner is important so that it feels true to you. Timelines make all the difference when accounting for wiggle room and ensuring there’s time for everything without stress. Specifically in Colorado you may want to be prepared for sudden weather shifts, high elevation (beware of altitude sickness), and golden hour windows (which are a little different here).
A few things to consider when you’re building an elopement timeline are season, location, activities, guest (if any), and vendors. The season and specific time of year can effect daylight hours, road closures, snow/sunrise/sunset especially in Colorado. Winter elopements are beautiful, but you should be cautious of the terrain.
Location accessibility is important for the schedule for numerous reasons. Are you going for a long hike, short hike, no hike at all and just finding the best drive-up lookouts? If you are eloping in a national park does the park require ceremonies to only take place between certain hours? Will you have any guests attending, and if do is your ceremony location accessible for them? There are lots of questions when it comes to elopement planning and timeline coordination.
Would you and your partner like to do any activities or have an traditions included in your day like vow, picnic, champagne pop, astro photos, etc.? Vendors also play a key role in timeline planning. Hair & makeup can take anywhere from an hour to 2 hours. If you’re planning on having a chef you’ll want to have a meeting with them and discuss all the ins and outs. Of course, you will want your day to be documented by a photographer and you can book me for that. When you book with me you can rest assured that you will have a stress-free experience.
Let’s look at a preview of what to expect for your elopement timeline. For the sake of this example we’ll say you really want to prioritize private sunrise vows doing what you and your partner enjoy most and at some point you would like to have family join you.

Personalized location scouting and logistics is so important and the ground work for a good time line. Sometimes locations do not look the same way they did 5 months ago so it is always important for me to go back, scout, and reassess if needed. Your timeline built around light, emotion, and experience is important to me so that you can have an honest, intimate, and romantic experience. Often I work in collaboration with vendors to ensure a flow to your day. As an experience elopement planner and photographer I always make sure to have a plan B in mind but my clients embrace the adventure! Having day-of flexibility and guiding without pressure is a part of what I do. When you book with me, you don’t just get a photographer — you get a built-in elopement planner and storyteller.
